Sizzurp Linked To T.I. Arrest – With claims that TI and his wife, Tiny, who is most known for having appeared on a number of reality shows, were caught with a substance known as “sizzurp,” the term has become one of the hottest searched trends on Google. The concoction known as Sizzurp is made by mixing codeine cough syrup with soda. Also known as “lean,” the substance has become a popular piece of hip-hop culture. A number of rap artists have fallen victim to its effects, including Pimp C who passed away in 2008 after overdosing on the substance.
The substance is called “sizzurp” because it is purple, which is an effect that is created by the color of the codeine cough syrup. 7-Up is commonly mixed with the syrup, as well as a number of other sodas including Sprite.

With the use of sizzurp which can produce extreme somnolence, weakness and may even cause fatal respiratory depression so prominent in rap culture, it will be interesting to see if the incident involving T.I. creates increased criticism on the subject. Rappers have been criticized by media sources on a number of occasions for glorifying abuse of the substance, but this latest mishap will cause increased scrutiny.
Both T.I. and Tiny were also caught with ecstasy and marijuana. After having served a year in prison on weapons charges, you would think that T.I. would want to put those kinds of things behind him, especially since he is still on parole. The incident could potentially send T.I. back to prison, although some experts have suggested that he will likely be asked to attend a rehab program instead.
