Similac Recall Aftermath : Breastfeeding VS Baby Formula
Similac Recall Aftermath : Breastfeeding VS Baby Formula – Similac baby formula 2010 recall is igniting a fiery debate about breastfeeding on the internet. While most agree that boycotting formulas is not the way to go and that it is up to the mother to decide what she feeds her kids, there is still a large group of people out there who feel that all children should be breast-fed. Now, the recent recall has many fearing that we could have some sort of war on our hands between the formula companies and the women who have been pushing for breastfeeding.
Some moms have said that formulas should be banned from supermarkets and that people should only be able to acquire them through a prescription. Now that Similac has been recalled because there may be bug parts in the formula, these claims are getting more merit from the general public.
It will be hard for the company to get some old customers back. Although it did work alongside the FDA, that determined that Similac had acted appropriately given the situation, and also said that there are no health risks associated with products that were shipped out.
So, will customers turning on Similac lead to more women breastfeeding their children? Many believe so, and now the underground breastfeeding movements have a point of reference when they talk about the evils of formula, thanks to the recent recall.

Certainly something in breastfeeding’s favor. Even without the bug parts, formula has some pretty sketchy ingredients. Certainly, nothing a baby should ingest if they can help it. The only problem with pulling formula from shelves is the fact that some parents can’t/won’t breastfeed because of work demands and might just switch to milk instead of getting a Rx. Even worse than formula.
