Herpes – Herpes is a contagious illness caused by Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2).The disease can be oral herpes, which is an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus and that is often manifested by cold sores on the upper lip.
The second form of the viral illness is Genital herpes that is transmitted through intercourse and is caused by the herpes simplex viruses type 1 (HSV-1) or type 2 (HSV-2).
There is no cure for herpes.
Local anesthetic treatments such as prilocaine, lidocaine or tetracaine can ease the pain.
