Health Reform Law:Thirty Million Women Will Gain
Health Reform Law:Thirty Million Women Will Gain – The new health care reform law that was passed has come under scrutiny from many different organizations. However, it was recently found that around thirty million women will gain from the new health care reform law over the course of the next ten years, according to a new report that was released by “the Commonwealth Fund,” which is a private organization that is based in New York.
The report said that the new health care laws will help women who have to deal with increasing health care costs, and will subdue spending for women. This will happen because the new law subsidizes health insurance for 15 million women who currently do not have any sort of health insurance, and will also strengthen existing coverage for another 14.5 million women in the country who have fallen into the “underinsured” category. Their coverage only partly protects them from high medical bills, and they will receive additional help under the new system.

The new bill will expand eligibility for Medicaid for women, and will also limit their out of pocket expenses that they would normally have to pay. It will also prevent insurance companies from charging higher premiums and turning individuals down based on their gender or health status. The mandatory new plan will also cover pregnancy, child birth and newborn care.
So while the issue is still debated heavily, it does appear that many American’s will be receiving additional help through the new bill, and millions of American’s who do not have insurance will receive it over the course of the next ten years.

Thank God. It was about time the health system treated women fairly and equally. It is hard to believe that we have been punished throughout the years based solely on the gender we were born with. Women have more frequent doc visits. I can’t believe right now pregnancy is considered a “pre-existing condition”. Shame on these insurance companies for exploiting the female gender.

According to some simple facts and third grade math (i.e. 160 million women in the U.S.) it would seem that 130 million women will lose because of health care reform. It makes sense as someone will have to pay for those who “gain”.
