Harlequin Ichthyosis:Harlequin DiseaseHarlequin ichthyosis also called Harlequin-type ichthyosis or ichthyosis congenita, Ichthyosis fetalis or keratosis diffusa fetalis is an incurable skin disease that mostly affects new born babies.
Harlequin ichthyosis is manifested by thickening of the keratin layer in fetal human skin,diamond-shaped scales, and tends to have a reddish color.The skin eventually cracked where normal skin would fold, therefore leaving easy access to bacteria and other contaminants, resulting in serious risk of fatal infection.
